Complete Arkansas Voter ID Laws
*As of 10/15/14, Arkansas’ voter ID law has been suspended. Further details are pending. Please check back regularly.
For more information on how to obtain a free photo I.D., click here. If you do not have ID, you may cast a provisional ballot. The provisional ballot will be counted if the voter returns to the county clerk or county election commission by noon the Monday after the election with either proof of identity or an affidavit swearing the voter has no photo I.D. because of indigence or a religious objection to being photographed. For more information on doing so, click here.
In order to have voting residency in Arkansas, your Arkansas address must be your “domicile,” meaning the fixed place where you live and where you intend to return whenever you are absent. You should not have any trouble establishing residency at home if you attend school elsewhere. If you intend to return to the place you lived before school after you graduate, you probably will not be considered a voting resident of your college community under Arkansas law. You should be able to establish residency if you have the intent to establish your domicile in Arkansas when you move there and you do not intend to move back home.
Individuals convicted of a felony are ineligible to vote while incarcerated, on parole, or on probation. Voting rights are automatically restored upon completion of all supervised release. Ex-offenders should re-register to vote.
